Made with seasoned breakfast tofu, maple-fennel tempeh, baby spinach, aji yolk sauce, and sweet maple drizzle on a rosemary cheddar biscuit, it’ll make you go, “Ooooh-wee!”

What started as a food truck in 2010, Seabirds Kitchen is now a popular brick-and-mortar vegan food biz creating unique, artisanal eats. Small plates include Cauliflower Ceviche, Purple Taquitos, and BBQ Jack Sliders. Mix and match their flavor-packed tacos—Kimchi, Beer Battered Avo, or Grilled Mushroom. Or carb up on your choice of comfort food, including the Beets Me Burger, Butternut Enchiladas, Meatball Pizza, and Stuffed Shells. Be sure to leave room for dessert cuz they’ve got it all.
Old Town Grilled Cheese + Tomato Soup
On another trip I discovered the awesomeness that is Seabirds’ Old Town Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. They go together like cookie dough and ice cream, biscuits and gravy, or the beach and summer!
The grilled cheese sandwich combines cashew gruyere spread, creamy basil avocado sauce, and American cheese on Old Town sourdough. And its steamy companion, made with organic tomato, fennel, Italian herbs, and coconut milk, invites you to slow down and enjoy every sip.
Purple Taquitos
Seabirds Kitchen has a second location at the LAB in Costa Mesa and a third, newly-opened spot in L.A.’s Los Feliz neighborhood. Get there early-ish for the delicious brunch and bubbly.

EXPLORING THE CITY
Long Beach isn’t just home to a few of my generation’s greatest artists, like Snoop Dogg, Sublime, and Warren G, and the 90s’ one-hit wonder The Dove Shack. Ya, I def had the cassette single of Summertime in the LBC playing on repeat.
Where the Cool Pups Play
Long Beach is also home to Rosie’s Dog Beach! A place where pups of all colors and sizes run free through the sand and ocean as their human companions look on happily.
After our quick brunch at Seabirds Kitchen, Romeo and I cruised over to Rosie’s Dog Beach for an afternoon in the Southern California sun. If it wasn’t for the always-mysterious June Gloom, it would have been the perfect day. My little guy loves hangin’ there so I plan to make it up to him soon. 💙 I’m sure your furry friends will love it too.
