NUVEGAN CAFÉ: HOME OF MY FAVORITE PLANT-BASED MAC

WASHINGTON, D.C.
Are you like me—on a life-long quest for the greatest Mac ‘n’ cheese on earth?? If yes, then let me help you out. Get your 🍑 over to NuVegan Café right now and order the biggest serving of Vegan Mac & Cheese you think you can handle. Ok, well not right now (it’s currently 12:22am in Los Angeles), but anytime between 11am and 9pm will work. The Mac is unlike any I’ve tried before. It’s creamy and fluffy and wonderfully cheesy. I wish I knew their secret. Dani thinks it might be made with whipped tofu. Like I said…totally unique.

It’s a toss up on which they do better—the Mac or Vegan Chik’n Drummies. The fried chik’n, made with soy and wheat and wrapped around a bamboo stick, is a culinary masterpiece. This far kinder version of chicken drumsticks is so much like the real thing, it took me a moment to recover from the shock. Then followed pure bliss and BBQ sauce. 😄

NuVegan Cafe is a cafeteria-style restaurant, with plenty of hot and cold options to create your perfect meal. Entrées include Vegan Friend Steak, Vegan Crab Cakes, Vegan Lasagna, burgers and sandwiches. For your sides, choose from Garlic Kale, Artichoke, Candied Yams, Pickled Beet, Herbed Quinoa, and about 20 other beautifully dressed fruits and veggies.

Our mission is to become the motivating force that sparks a movement towards global awareness by redefining the perception of vegan cuisine.

On Sundays NuVegan serves brunch from 10am-3pm. Take your pick—sweet or savory. The brunch menu includes Pancakes, Waffles, French Toast, Vegan Omelet, Cheezy Grits and Cinnamon Apples.

Pro Tip: Howard University students get 10% off all food…and there’s free WiFi. 👌🏼
