If the burgers from In-N-Out are the last thing standing between you and a meatless diet, allow me to introduce you to Vurger Guyz.
So it’s a Monday morning and I had just arrived at the LoveSpark office in downtown Los Angeles. It’s what some might call a traveling office. Sometimes it’s the Starbucks at 8th and Olive, and sometimes it’s the Groundwork coffee shop in North Hollywood. Well, on this particular day it happened to be the Capital One Cafe on the corner of Grand and 8th Street.
Our routine goes something like this… Kay, my dear friend and business partner, gets to the meeting spot about two hours early. And once I finally arrive, yawning and slightly hungover from binging on Medium articles or writing and marketing musings from Honey Copy, my first words are usually, “Are you hungry?”
The Vurger Guyz food truck is too easy to spot, especially for any Beyond Meat enthusiast. Blasted across every side of the all-black food shop on wheels is the bright green bull, cape blowing in the wind, so big we could see it from where we were sitting a block away.
We decided that would be the day we finally go in on a couple of their Classic Vurgers. But it wouldn’t be our first taste. Vurger Guyz generously serves free samples—the second marketing win I counted.

We… are… hooked… Between bites I gleefully exclaimed while wiggling in my seat, “Holy sh*t that’s good!” And in true Kay fashion—done before I could get halfway through—he added, “This burger is really special.” Then we went on and on about all the reasons why, like marketing win number three: that adorable black-and-white checkered paper folded oh so perfectly and topped with the well-contrasted sticker to remind you of the brand behind the killer flavor and how to contact them for more.
