In an insightful new video presented by Farm Sanctuary, Dr. Michael Greger, nutrition guru and esteemed author of How Not to Die, shares at least 11 reasons why plants = life.

During the interview, Farm Sanctuary board member Nirva Patel highlights a compelling theory as to why the U.S., compared to other countries, has suffered the most during the COVID pandemic: Among other reasons, the U.S. was already experiencing a nationwide health epidemic. This begs the question, “Do you think that we would have been better off if we had all followed a whole-foods, plant-based diet?”

The answer in a nutshell—yes. As you’ve likely heard by now, risk factors for severe illness from COVID-19 include obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and other forms of heart disease, “all of which can be prevented, arrested, or even reversed with a plant-based diet and lifestyle.”

The nutrients found in whole foods equip our bodies with the fighting power to keep nasty, energy-sucking, and dangerously proliferative cooties at bay.
