Doomie's No-Chicken Chicken Dinner

DOOMIE’S HOME COOKIN’: MAKING BAD LOOK SO GOOD

HOLLYWOOD, CA
You have a dilemma and I’m about to help you solve it. You’re craving a good ol’ fashioned cheeseburger. Your significant other is pleading his case for tacos. And all your 6-year-old nephew keeps ranting about is ice cream.

Well, on the corner of Vine and Fountain, vegan chefs and frozen dessert artists await your small crew’s arrival. There’s Doomie’s #NextMex for your boo, Cocobella Creamery for the little guy, and for you, Doomie’s Home Cookin’—all in one super convenient mini strip mall currently overrun by hedonistic plant-eaters.

Between the lines of the Doomie’s all-vegan menu you’ll read, “Leave your conscience at the door. It’s time to indulge.” To what degree is up to you. Doomie’s burgers range from The Classic—lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and 1000 dressing—to The Big D, a burger stacked so high with double layers of everything you’ll wonder how to tackle that first bite. What falls somewhere in the middle are the Bacon-Cheese-Burger, Chili-Cheese-Burger, The Western, The Memphis, and the Peanut Butter Bacon Burger. Wait, what? The fine print on that last one claims “it works best with just pickles, onions, and a side of jelly.”

Regretfully, I have yet to try a Doomie’s burger so you’ll have to let me know how it is. For my first visit, my heart was set on the Mighty Cristo Sandwich. The influence of social media is real.

The second time around, I was craving a little bit of everything, so I went with the no-chicken fried chicken dinner (featured image). If “ooey and gooey” Mac and cheese is your thing too, Doomie’s offers it straight up or topped with 1000 Island dressing and grilled onions (Animal Mac), meaty chili (Chili Mac), or steak and grilled peppers and onions (Philly Mac).

This sinful vegan joint has plenty more goodies…The coolers are loaded with an impressive selection of beer, and the slices of carrot cake, cheesecake, and German chocolate cake are so big you’ll have to strap your dessert box into its own seat on the way home. But why stop at ordinary when you can get a taste of everyone’s #1 pick: deep-fried Oreos powdered with sugar and drizzled with chocolate.

Of course, Doomie’s also has good old-fashioned milkshakes to go with that good old-fashioned burger. Chocolate, Oreo, strawberry, vanilla, and orange creamsicle. Whipped cream or no whipped cream. Whatever your mode of pleasure turns out to be, enjoy!
