If you’re a vegan newbie, Veggie Grill is the perfect place to feed your cravings for burgers, fries, and other savory eats. It stands as a perfect crossover. I loved it when I started my vegan journey and I still do years later.
Since 2006, the fast-casual, fully vegan chain “has been changing American food culture for the better.” Better for people, better for animals, and better for the planet. Veggie Grill now boasts 17 restaurants, across California, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Washington.
I’ve eaten at Veggie Grill at least 100 times, but I’ll never be able to try every menu item—it changes with the seasons and even the mains get overhauled pretty regularly. But what I have conquered has been satisfying and delicious every time.
Half order of Sweet Potato Fries, with half order of the All Hail Kale salad
RIP to the All Hail Kale salad (no longer on the menu). It held my Favorite Veggie Grill Dish title for years. And the Buffalo Wings (featured image) might look unsophisticated in comparison to the latest plant-based options popping up at warp speed, but their flavor is not! They reign supreme in my book.
A few other items on the current menu (August 2023) I confidently endorse are the Buffalo Mini Wrap, Sweet Potato Fries with chipotle aioli, Classic Romaine Ceasar, and Crispy Buffalo Chick’n Sandwich.

Tuna Melt (retired; I’m crossing my fingers for a comeback)
Trust me. You will love this place and so will your lunch date. I have had far-from-vegan coworkers and friends join me at Veggie Grill, and they’ve all wanted to go back.
