AUSTIN, TX
Food trucks galore! Austin has an enviable vegan scene, with around 40 vegan food spots, and nearly half of them are on wheels. With two locations and nearly a decade-long history, Arlo’s Curbside might have the city’s biggest fanbase.
Cuz the cool kids don’t eat dinner by 7
The location at Spider House—2908 Fruth St, Austin—is open seven days a week until 12 am. And for you nocturnal animals, the location at Cheer Up Charlies—900 Red River, Austin—is open Thursday through Sunday until 2 am.
I am going to be really honest here. When my cousin and I pulled up, my first thought was that the place looked super sketchy. Granted, this was before the previously all-black truck had received its new colorful paint job. The repurposed and mismatched tables, chairs, and other random decor also added to the effect. But you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, right?
License to Grill
By the time I had my first taste of their Bac’n Cheeze Burger, I had already forgotten about the truck that could have come right off the set of some horror film or been a kidnapper’s mode of transportation. Nope, the only thing on my mind was how good the sweet potato fries tasted smothered in ketchup. It was a perfect combo.
Arlo’s Curbside is cooking up burgers in three more styles:
🍔 BBQ Burger: Housemade soy-free and gluten-free patty grilled in BBQ sauce, with chipotle sauce, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and pickles
🍔 Frito Pie Burger: Housemade soy-free and gluten-free patty, melted cheeze, chili, Fritos, pico de gallo, chipotle sauce, onions, and lettuce
🍔 Chipotle Chik’n: Housemade seitan patty, grilled slaw, chipotle sauce, and lettuce
For those of us with monster appetites, the menu also features tacos, mac n cheeze, French fries, sweet fries, tots, and Frito pies.
