Margarita Monday, Taco Tuesday, and Thirsty Thursday are three of the many reasons that make Sugar Taco one of my new happy places. The colorful vegan eatery has only been open a few months and I’ve already lost count of how many times I’ve visited. The authentic, marvelously flavored plant-based cuisine has me hooked…
First it started with the protein bowl with gluten-free pollo and guacamole. Delicious! Then it was the tacos. I had to mix and match proteins and add-ons until I found my perfect combo. But my most recent craze is the burrito. Once wrapped they lightly grill it, bumping the already incredible taste up a few extra notches. Then the other day I came across a social media post praising Sugar Taco’s quesadilla made with cashew cheese. No doubt, it will be my next obsession.

I’m not sure which I love more, Mexican food or Mexican drinks. I mean seriously, I hope I never have to choose between fresh guacamole with perfectly salted tortilla chips and a Dos Equis Lager served in a chilled glass with a salted rim and lime, or a stuffed burrito and a top-shelf margarita on the rocks.
The drink menu at Sugar Taco offers half a dozen twists on the classic margarita, including a few fruity variations, a couple spicy options, and one with the smoky taste of mezcal. The cerveza lineup features all the favorite Mexican imports, plus the beautifully packaged limited release Dia De Los Deftones, a collab between Belching Beaver Brewery and one of my all-time favorite bands, the Deftones.

With an ingenious business plan, Sugar Taco is on a mission to save the world one taco at a time. As if I needed another excuse to indulge in the house-made tortillas piled high with plant-based protein and the yummiest toppings. Carne asada, pollo, al pastor, or carnitas? Mango salsa, guacamole, cilantro, or cashew queso? Thank you for asking. I’ll try them all! 😛
